Paint the box and drawers of the DIY Advent Calendar with acrylic paint and a flat bristled paint brush. Allow time for the paint to dry.
You'll be amazed at how easy it is to create perfectly striped sides by using one of my favorite craft supplies, washi tape. Simply apply a piece of orange washi tape to the paper mache box sides at an angle. Apply another piece of washi tape directly beside the first one. This will serve as a guide for spacing the tape exactly the same width all the way across the sides. Place another piece of washi next to the second one and then remove the second washi tape. Continue this across the both box sides, reusing the second piece of washi as your guide.
