Transform a plastic barrel drink dispenser into an aged barrel for your next rustic, pirate or western party. See the full step-by-step tutorial here!
Start by masking the black bands with tape. This step is optional, since you may want to apply the stain to the black bands to give them a subtle aged look as well.
Using a clean cloth rag or paper towel, rub the wood stain on to the barrel.
Next, with a foam paint brush lightly apply black paint on to the barrel in sections. Immediately rubbing it off with a cloth rag. This will set the paint into the groves to add dimension.
Be sure to add black paint to the lid and footed base.
Next, rub gold metallic paint over the entire barrel. Adding another layer of dimension for an aged look.
Once the paint has dried, apply a generous coat of Mod Podge® Acrylic Sealer – Gloss with a paint brush.
Let dry.
Fill with your favorite drink and enjoy!
