Who knew balloons and butterflies would make such a pretty pair? If you're looking for a simple but stunning decoration for a summer party, shower, or wedding, these DIY butterfly balloons would be the perfect addition! They are as simple as adding feather butterflies to helium or air-filled balloons with a dab of hot glue. It takes minutes to whip these up and the lifelike butterflies in a rainbow of colors make such an impact!

Inflate your balloons with either helium using a personal helium tank and curling ribbon, or with air, using balloon sticks to hold the balloons upright. Cut the wire stem from each butterfly using wire cutters. Fold the remaining small piece of wire back into the butterfly so that it is not poking out (and won’t pop the balloon!).

Add each butterfly to the balloon by putting a small dab of hot glue on the backside of the butterfly and sticking it on the balloon. I promise it won’t pop! Check out my pom-pom balloon tutorial for another fun idea that involves hot glue and balloons!

Keep adding butterflies until you get the amount of coverage you want. I was able to get 8 butterflies on a helium balloon without it being weighed down, but the more you put on the balloon the shorter float life it will have. If you are using air-filled balloons you can add as many butterflies as you like!
