I love crafting wreaths to display in my home throughout the year. I’ve made wreaths from all sorts of materials, but I haven’t ever crafted one with buttons before, so I was excited to give these bright rainbow craft buttons a try for October’s Supply of the Month challenge! I love how colorful and homey this DIY burlap and button wreath tuned out. It’s something you can keep up in your home year-round!

Step

Wrap your foam wreath form with the wired burlap ribbon. Overlap the ribbon slightly as you go so that none of the wreath form shows through, and secure in place with a dab of hot glue.

To create the burlap flowers, freehand cut a petal 2-3 inches long from the turquoise or magenta burlap. Use it as a template to cut out 9 total petals for each flower. I laid the initial petal template I created on top of the burlap and cut around it to make additional petals. Don’t worry about each of the petals being exactly the same.

Add a line of hot glue along the base of each petal and pinch together to create a curved petal. I recommend having your hot glue on the “low” setting for this step so you don’t burn your fingers!

Glue the flower petals together to form the flower by adding a dab of glue at the base of each petal and adding to another one, working your way around to create a flower shape with 9 petals.

I created three flowers (two large turquoise and one smaller magenta flower) and then added them to my wreath form with a generous dab of hot glue on the back center part of the flower.

Embellish the flowers and the rest of the wreath with a variety of buttons. I selected a color palette of pinks, greens, and dark purples among the variety of colors available in the rainbow button pack. I added a small dab of hot glue on the back of each button to adhere them. I had fun using the buttons to decorate each flower differently.

I added one more touch of burlap by hanging the wreath with this chevron burlap ribbon!
