Our pastel-colored DIY Cartoon Eyeball Wreath is the perfect way to add modern style to your entryway this Halloween! The best news of all? The colorful holiday craft is meant to be playful, so feel free to ‘eyeball’ the Halloween motifs on your wreath for a unique, one-of-a-kind finish. Less than an hour of hands-on work later, your front door will be the talk of the trick-or-treating town. Let’s get started!
Choose your favorite colors (excluding black and white) from the packs of Sierra Sunset, Bright, and Sherbert Swirl Medium Opaque Paint Markers. Open the first pack of Table Tennis Balls, and pick up one ball. Draw a circular shape in the center of the ball, about 1″ in diameter or roughly the size of a quarter. Again, feel free to ‘eyeball’ the shape as it doesn’t need to be particularly perfect for this fun craft! Repeat this first step on more table tennis balls using an assortment of colored markers. Set the painted table tennis balls aside to dry for about 20 minutes.
Once the colored circles of paint have dried on the table tennis balls, pick them up again one by one and add a smaller circle using the black Medium Opaque Paint Marker in the center of the pastel colored circle. Your black circle should be about half the size of the pastel circle, or about the size of a dime. Continue adding black circles on each of the eyeballs, and set them aside to dry for 20 minutes. To finish, pick up the eyeballs and add a tiny white highlight on the edge of the black circles using the white Medium Opaque Paint Marker. Repeat across all the DIY eyeballs, and allow them to dry for 20-30 minutes before handling.
Set the dried eyeballs off to the side, and wrap the Foam Wreath with 3 White Feather Boas. You can use Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue or Galvanized staples or tacks from the hardware store to keep the ends of the boas in place on the foam wreath form. If you used glue to attach the boas, allow the wrapped wreath to dry for 45 minutes before handling.
Use Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue to attach the DIY eyeballs all over the face of the wrapped wreath. Allow the glued eyeballs to dry in place for 45 minutes before handling.
Once the glued sections of the wreath are completely dry, hang the finished decoration on your front door for trick-or-treaters to enjoy this Halloween 2016! (Project and photos by Carrie Waller)
