Give me anything in miniature version and I am a happy lady. When I found out our craft supply of the month would be little 4″ Square Canvases, I was so excited about the possibilities. Miniature canvases are such versatile products and I love that you can bunch them together in a big square shape for a bigger impact or use them individually.
Start this project by making note of where the wood frame of your canvas is located. Then using a ruler, mark out the spacing of your embroidery floss stripes. I marked about every 1/4 of an inch.
Next, draw out a blocked version of each letter you are going to embroider. I wrote out the word, HOPE.
Start your embroidering coming in from the back bottom corner. From there, go straight up to the top right corner, this helps create your first straight line! From there, your needle will be at the backside of the canvas, so move over to your next mark and push through to come out on the front of your canvas. When you come to your penciled in letter, simply go in with your needle and come back out where that straight line would hit. You are creating negative space where the letters would be.
Once all four of your HOPE letters are embroidered, it’s time to add a little paint to your canvas edges. I used coordinating paint colors for mine.
