Get your kids in on the earth-friendly mindset and teach them to use reusable shopping bags! Spark the fun by making your own, starting with natural canvas tote bags. Make DIY fruit and veggie stamps out of craft foam sheets and mount them to cardboard to make a stamp. Now your kids won't complain when you take them produce shopping at the farmer's market!
Cut fruit and veggie shapes out of craft foam. Cut them to whatever size you prefer—we made our larger designs for our larger bags.
Glue your craft foam veggie and fruit designs to small pieces of cardboard with Aleene's Tacky Glue. You can also use self-adhesive craft foam sheets which allows you to skip the glue.
Use a paintbrush to apply acrylic paint to the craft foam shape. Brush only a small amount of paint on so it keeps the shape of the fruit or veggie when pressed.
Flip the cardboard over and press the stamp onto the natural canvas tote bag. Remove, reapply the paint, and continue stamping until the bag is covered to your liking.
Use your fabric markers to add accents to your fruits or veggies...stems on cherries, pits in avocados, or leafy greens on carrots. If you'd like, add sweet smiley faces to your fruits to give them some personality!
Now take your new custom-made tote bags to the farmers' market to collect your healthy bounty!
