Ask us what our favorite app is, and we're quick to respond with this: "Instagram!" There's just something so inspiring about scrolling through photos from all over the world, and sharing favorite images of our own is a favorite daily activity, too. If you're nodding along in agreement, then you'll love our Faux Stained Wood Instagram Frame. The project takes just one hour to complete and you can get all of the DIY details below!
Mix Acrylic Paint with a Foam Brush in a Snack Cup until you achieve a shade of brown. You'll want to use a small portion of blue, a medium portion of red, and a large portion of yellow. Supplement with white pigment until the paint is a rich mocha color, then add water until the consistency is similar to chocolate milk.
NOTE: Follow this alternative DIY tutorial if you'd like to try using pre-mixed brown acrylic paint instead!
Starting with the sides and then moving onto the face of an Unfinished Wood Square Plaque, add 1-2 coats of the mixed brown paint using a Foam Brush.
While the paint is drying from Step 2, print 2-3 of your favorite Instagram photos on White Cardstock. Then, use a pen and ruler to draw straight lines along the photo's edges, making sure to leave a small 1/4-inch border of white around the image.
Cut along the drawn lines with scissors, and then spread Tacky Glue evenly along the back side of the photo with a foam brush. Center the photo on the wood plaque right in the center of the square, and press firmly along the entire surface of the image to ensure a smooth finish.
Repeat Steps 1-4 on as many wood square plaques as you'd like, and then allow them to dry for 30 minutes before propping them up or hanging them with picture hanging tools and hardware in your favorite spot at home!
