Who doesn’t love a functional, educational DIY activity that can last for years and is compact? This easy felt activity for toddlers is a great way to keep tiny hands busy. It can also grow with the child by modifying the components of the activity. This activity is great for matching, identifying shapes and colors, and using basic language (“put there”, “where does it go?”, etc.).

Select four different colored sheets of felt. Glue two pieces of felt together with the hot glue, matching up the longer edges. Repeat with two other pieces of felt.

Glue both sets of sheets together along the longest edges. Be sure to allow some time for the glue to dry. The felt board should look like this once its all glued together.

Select one more felt sheet per color. Cut out a variety of shapes from the sheets.

Trace the pre-cut shapes onto the felt sheets and cut them out.

Create an envelope by folding the felt in half, and using hot glue to attach the two shorter sides. When not using the felt board, fold it up and store with the envelope. This makes it so easy to take the felt board with you anywhere! 

If your toddler is more advanced, you can add more colored felt sheets to the board. You can also add shapes that are shades of the primary color. Also you can make other shapes like cars, food, numbers, animals, etc.
