It's time to bring the flowers inside and celebrate the return of warmer weather with our spring garden party. With just a few supplies, you can create a unique tissue paper floral cake topper that will take your cake from boring to show stopping. Dressing up a store bought cake has never been easier!
Begin by folding 4 tissue paper squares in half and fringe cutting them along the fold leaving 1/2" at the bottom uncut. Then add glue along the uncut portion of the tissue paper and roll up and around a wooden skewer.
Cut petal shapes from a coordinating color of tissue paper and glue the base of the petals onto the wood skewer and around the middle part of the flower. Continue to add petals overlapping them as you go until your flower is as large as you want it. Repeat with other colors of tissue paper to create an assortment of tissue paper flower cake picks. Then simply add them to your cake by pressing them into the top layer. You may need to cut off the ends of the wooden skewers to shorten the height of the picks.
