Download the Circle Templates here.  Print out the circles and use them to trace circles onto colored card stock. Then cut out the circles. The larger circle should be the darker color, the rind of the fruit. For the smaller use the lighter color.

Alternatively cut circles out using your Cricut or punch circles using hole punches.

Next, gently pull to remove the umbrella portion from the Hibiscus Cocktail Parasol, leaving just the pick and the white top.

Next, take the larger circle and fold in half. Fold again, a total of 4 folds.

Then, turn the circle upside down and fold an additional four times (between the original folds), a total of 8 folds. This concertina fold effect creates the folding umbrella.

In the center of the circle insert the pick from the Hibiscus Cocktail Parasol.

Next, fold the smaller circle. Fold the circle in half, then fold again, a total of 4 folds. Then, cut out each segment, 8 in total. Score a fold into each segment down the middle. Glue the folded wedges in place into the folds of the larger circle.

As an alternative to the wedge umbrella, create fruit umbrellas with seeds e.g. a watermelon, or kiwifruit. Follow step 3 for the larger circle. For the smaller circle, fold (as in step 4) but do not cut. Insert the pick from the Hibiscus Cocktail Parasol into the smaller circle and place on top of the larger circle. Next, cut small seed shapes (circle or teardrop depending on the fruit) out of black card stock and glue these onto the smaller circle.

Finally, take the small plastic bands from the original Hibiscus Cocktail Parasol and use them on the picks of the new fruity cocktail umbrellas. This holds the umbrellas up and out.

Tip: I recommend using two bands on these umbrellas as card stock is thicker and heavier than the materials used to create the original umbrella.
