Here’s a simple technique to update a basic glass vase with pretty metallic washi tape. I’m always looking for a fun way to give these glass vases a unique DIY touch. The combination of shiny and glittery gold washi tape transforms the vase into an eye-catching accent piece. I incorporated it into my Simple and Elegant Thanksgiving Table by filling it with pretty paper napkin flowers and pheasant feathers. You can create this DIY gold washi tape vase in a matter of minutes – read on to see how!
Choose one side of your square vase to be the back. Start at the bottom of the vase by wrapping around a strip of the gold glitter washi tape. Once you’ve reached the back again, slightly overlap the tape and trim.
Alternate the gold glitter washi tape and shiny gold washi tape. Slightly overlap each of the rows. This will ensure that there is no glass peeking through and it will also help keep the washi tape securely in place.
Talk about a transformation! I love the soft glow the washi tape gives off when paired with votives on the table. You could use this technique on all sizes of vases, but you’ll just want them to be square or rectangular. Cylindrical vases are more difficult to wrap the tape around. If filling the vase with water, be careful to not get the outside too wet as it may cause the tape to peel off.
