Halloween surprises don't always have to come via trick-or-treating! You can make these easy Troll Party Poppers from cardboard craft rolls for your kids, or they can help make them for their besties as little Halloween gifts! The fringed and curled ends of the poppers naturally lend themselves to perfect Troll hair—add cut paper features and cute Troll eyes with these whimsical eye stickers. Fill 'em up with a mix of candy and toys to start Halloween with a bang!
Place the craft roll on a sheet of colored paper, lined up with one edge. Make a pencil mark where the roll ends, then roll along the paper to make 3 to 4 more marks. Cut on that line and set this piece of paper aside. This will become the troll's "face" color.
Trim your second sheet of paper down to 12 inches by 8 inches. With the paper vertically positioned on your work surface, place the cardboard craft roll slightly off center, leaving more space above. The longer side will become the troll's hair. Roll the tube in the paper and tape to secure in place.
Fringe each end of the rolled paper with scissors by cutting narrow strips all the way around.
Gently sandwiching the paper between your thumb and scissor edge, pull the paper to curl. You can curl a few strands at a time. Work all the way around one side. Note: You may accidentally break some off but that's fine! Once it's bundled together, you will not notice.
Cut a 6-inch piece of twine or string to match your paper. Tie it around the tube and then slide the tie up and under the curled fringe while simultaneously pulling to tighten the knot. Tie again to secure in place.
Tape the ends of the string down onto the craft roll and trim ends.
Fill the craft roll with toys, confetti, and candy! Make sure the items that you buy fit into the tube like Wiggle Eye Rings, Halloween Stretch Skeletons, and Eyeball Pop-Ups. Add some confetti for an additional festive surprise! Once it's filled, repeat steps 4 through 6 to close the other end.
Roll the cut paper from Step 1 around the craft roll and tape to secure on the back.
If you want to add a stylish hair-do, cut a wild, Troll-approved style and use a glue stick to adhere to the top of the roll.
Cut funny-shaped ears from craft paper. Make sure to leave a small tab on each ear so that you can fold it back and tape it onto the sides of the tube.
Cut inner ears, mouth and nose out of various colors of craft paper and adhere onto the craft roll with a glue stick.
Choose your favorite set of eyes from the Cute Colorful Eye Stickers roll and adhere them to the Halloween Troll Popper.
To "pop" your popper, pull the tassels at either end until one or both pop off and shower you in Halloween treats!
