Take your fiesta to the next level with these fiesta flower headbands. This DIY is a fun and easy project that is bound to have a big impact on your party or event. These headbands are not only bright and colorful, but are also large and fun for girls of all ages. I even loved wearing one! Here are the supplies you’ll need to get started.

Project Time

Step
1

Separate out 3-4 sheets of tissue paper in 2 different colors. I chose to do 4 sheets of pink and 4 sheets of red. Make sure the colors coordinate so they will look nice together.

Step
2

Since the tissue paper sheets are pretty long we need to cut them so the flowers aren’t humongous. Fold your tissue paper in half lengthwise and cut down the middle.

Fold the tissue paper again width wise and you should have a square. Cut down the middle of the tissue paper and you will have a stack of tissue paper squares.

Separate the two colors of tissue paper from each other. Pull one of those colors to make your center color. Fold this tissue paper in half again and cut. Since this is a square, it will turn into a rectangle either way you fold and cut it.

Place the accent color tissue paper in the center of the square tissue paper.

Begin to fold your tissue paper accordion style making sure you catch the inside tissue paper.

Once you have the tissue paper folded accordion style, you can use scissors to round the tissue paper ends or cut them to a point. This will give your flower more dimension once it is all flared out. The yellow and orange flower in this headband have pointed ends, and this flower has rounded ends.

Step
8

Secure your tissue flower together with a twist tie in the middle.

Begin fanning out your tissue paper starting in the center and pulling gently. Be careful because the tissue paper will tear. A tear here and there isn’t a big deal, but your flower won’t look right if each layer is torn.

Once the tissue paper has been fanned out and you are seeing a flower you can now secure it to the headband with the twist tie.

Repeat with other colors until you have a headband full with Fiesta Flowers. Change up the size of your flowers by cutting more or less tissue paper when first making your flower. We used these at our Family-Friendly Fiesta. They were a hit with the girls and moms.
