These patriotic ribbon crowns are the perfect July 4th craft for your kids! Sport your patriotic pride with the red, white and blue ribbon. Add some shimmer with the patriotic wire garland. What I love about these ribbon crowns is how easy they are to make in a short period.
Take two chenille stems and twist the ends together to connect them. Now you have an extra long stem. Wrap the long stem around your child’s head. Cross the two ends of the chenille stems where they meet around your child’s head and twist together. Trim off any excess chenille stem. My 4 year old’s head was approximately 20″.
Cut several strands of red, white and blue curling ribbon. We cut 4 strands of each color 6′ in length. Using scissors, curl the ribbon. Cut each strand in half. Tie the curled strands to the chenille crown.
Trim off any long ends where you tied the knots. Cut a piece of patriotic wire garland about half the circumference of your crown. Starting where the ribbon stops, curl the wire around the crown. Continue wrapping the wire around the crown until it meets the other end (where the ribbon stops).
