My current obsession is hexagons and wooden signs. This DIY Wooden Hexagon sign is the perfect backdrop to our DIY Lightup Wooden Sign. It really is adorable on its own, but once you add in a Lightup Letter, it doesn't get much better. This is a fun DIY because you can really make it your own. You can choose your favorite paint colors and accent it with wooden cutout stars, hearts, or even little unicorns! Check out how we used this sign in our Unicorn Gallery Wall.

Start off by painting the DIY Unfinished Wood Hexagon Plank Sign with Black Acrylic Paint using a foam brush from the Plaid Paintbrush Super Value Pack. You want to ensure that you have full coverage, so you might need to add a few coats. Feel free to swap out any of the colors to match your room décor.

While your sign is drying, it's time to paint several of the DIY Unfinished Wood Stars. Paint an assortment of stars in several different sizes. We used two shades of pink, teal and two shades of purple. This will give you some options so you can stagger them or arrange them in a pattern.

To make your Marquee Light-Up Letter stand out, embellish your letter with your favorite scrapbook paper, paint, or washi tape. Each letter comes with a template, that you can easily trace. It's easiest to flip your scrapbook paper over so you can trace the template on the back. Just make sure you also flip your letter over too.

Cut out your letter shape with a small pair of scissors. After your letter has been cut out, insert it into the light. Flip your light over and use a X-Acto knife to gently cut an "x" shape in each hole. This will make it easier to insert the bulbs. Lastly, insert batteries and the lights into the back of the letter.

Using the Surebonder Low-Temperature Mini Glue Gun, attach your painted stars to the Embroidery Floss. We added three strings worth of stars. Simply flip the stars over and add a dot of glue to the back. Make sure the Embroidery Floss attaches to the glue. Repeat this process with the other two strings. Once the glue had dried and hardened, you can attach the strings to the back of the sign with hot glue.

Attach two small nails to hang your Marquee Light-Up Letter onto your DIY Unfinished Wood Hexagon Plank Sign. You can measure or simply eyeball where to hang your light. Using a hammer, gently tap in the two nails. Once you have your nails in place, attach your letter. Your sign is now complete and ready to hang.
