With Spring comes a little home redecorating in my house–not huge projects but little decor accessory pieces that give a room a fresh new look. Sometimes I swap out my pillows on my sofa for a new pop of color, change my centerpiece, runner and chargers on my dining table or add a new patterned throw rug. I’ve been looking for a wall piece to put in my entryway above my bar cart for a while now and couldn’t find just the right piece that was just the right size, so I decided to make my own! Check out my DIY Modern L-O-V-E Wall Art that is simple to make and is versatile enough to hang vertical, horizontal or square so you can find just the right spot for it.
To create the striped background, you’ll need the canvas, black masking tape and a pencil. Place one strip of Black Masking Tape across the top edge of one of the 8×8 Canvases. Wrap the edges around the back of the canvas and smooth all edges of the tape down to the canvas.
To create even stripes, place another strip off tape right next to the one you just put on the canvas. Do not smooth it down. Using a pencil, make a mark at the bottom of the strip of tape. Lift the tape back off the canvas. Then starting at the pencil marks, place the strip of tape and smooth down to secure it to the canvas. Repeat this until you have stripes all the way down the canvas.
Repeat this for all 4 of the canvases.
Cut all four L-O-V-E letters off the Large Glittered Love Garland. Be sure to get as close to the letter as possible so you remove all of the cording from the edges of the letters.
Turn each letter over and place hot glue all along the back of the letters then place it down on to the middle of the canvas and press firmly to secure the letter to the canvas. Repeat for each letter.
Embellish each letter with a few Clear Round Adhesive Jewels. These give wall art a bit of sparkle as the light hits it as you walk by.
Here you will need to decide how you want to arrange the letters to hang. You can hang them vertically, horizontally or in a square.
Once you have decided, attach the canvases to each other by securing the edges of the canvases that touch each other with hot glue or Aleene’s® Original Tacky Glue®. Let fully dry. If using the Tacky Glue, let sit overnight to fully dry before you hang your finished wall art.
Using 3M Command Hanging Tape, place your wall art on the wall. I like to use 3M Command Hanging Tape so that I can swap out art pieces throughout my house without damaging my walls. You could also simply hang your wall art from a nail. Here’s a few ideas of how you can display your new L-O-V-E Wall Art.
