Use a flat-bristled paintbrush and acrylic paint to dry brush paint a DIY Wood Plank Sign. To achieve the dry brush look, lightly dip your paintbrush into the paint and lightly swipe the paintbrush over the wood surface without adding more paint to the brush. Repeat this process until there is no more paint on the brush. Having the wood show through the paint is the look you're going for here.
Paint a DIY Unfinished Wood Heart Ornament using acrylic paint and allow time for the heart to dry.
Download, print and cut out the Love Sign Template. Arrange the painted wood heart and printed template onto the wood sign.
To do the printed image transfer technique, apply a thin layer of Matte Mod Podge over the areas you will be applying the images. Don’t forget to download the free printable love sign template here.
While the Mod Podge® is still wet, place the printables print side down onto the sign and rub the image into the wood using a Wood Craft Stick. Use hot glue to adhere the wood heart into place and allow the printed images to dry for 24 hours.
Once the Mod Podge is dry, use a spray bottle full of water to dampen the paper.
With a gentle finger, rub the paper off, working from the edge inward.
Once all the paper is off, apply a thin layer of Matte Mod Podge to protect the image.
We love the crisp, clean lines you get by using the Mod Podge® print transfer technique. Try this process on your next DIY and be sure to add your new wooden sign to your favorite Valentine’s shelf at home.
