I’ll be honest. I am SUPER into copper. One of my favorite things about copper is the natural patina of turquoise that it develops over time. Recently I’ve really been drawn to silver – not just any silver – galvanized silver. When I saw these amazing lanterns and bottle holders, I just had to add a copper accent! I’m sharing how to add copper leaf to metallic decor items to create a mixed metal centerpiece idea – perfect for your industrial themed wedding or bridal shower!
Apply the glue stick wherever you want the copper leaf to stick. Then press the leaf into the glue, brushing it into the glue with a soft bristled paint brush, also dusting off extra leaf bits with the paint brush motion.
Add it by sheets or by small pieces, it makes no difference. Keep adding until you’re happy with the amount of coverage.
Repeat the same steps for the bottle vases. Just add the glue where you want the copper leafing!
Let dry for at least 2 hours.
Tip: Glue sticks work the best on galvanized metal. Other “wet” glues simply won’t dry.
Display your gorgeous mixed metal decor for a stunning centerpiece! After your event, they can be reused in your home. This pretty copper bottle holder is holding a bottle of wine in my house right now!
