There's something about pumpkins that just make me happy, but I am not a huge fan of orange. I love white pumpkins, black pumpkins, metallic pumpkins, and just about any color in between. However, with a bit of spray paint and some embellishments, you can turn any Orange Foam Pumpkin into something fabulous. Plus, you can keep these pumpkins around for years to come because they are fake!
Tape off the stem of your Foam Orange Pumpkins with blue painters tape. Spray paint your pumpkin with your choice of metallic paint. I chose two different colors or metallic paint and a satin white color.
The hardest part of this project was waiting for the spray paint to dry. For the best result, do two or three really light coats of paint. This helps keep the paint from dripping and it provides a nice even coat. You can also use metallic acrylic paint too.
Once the paint has dried, start by adding jewels to your pumpkins. I wanted all three of my pumpkins to look slightly different. This is where you get to be creative. For the first pumpkin, I wanted a simple studded pumpkin. Start by adding some Gold Adhesive Studded Jewels in a row vertically. I used almost an entire bag of studded jewels for one pumpkin. Continue adding studded jewels until have covered your pumpkin.
For the White Jeweled Pumpkin I found it easiest to predetermine a pattern. I used an assortment of gems, but only used the silver gems from the Small Black, Gold & Silver Faceted Gems and the Large Black, Gold & Silver Faceted Gems. Arrange your jewels on a piece of paper before you place them on your pumpkin. I recommend sorting your jewels prior to gluing them on so you don't have to stop in between and find more jewels.
Get your glue gun ready and follow your pattern. Start in the center and glue your first row of gems on. Repeat the same process with your other rows. You can do the entire pumpkin, I really love the look of just the front of the pumpkin being adorn with gems.
The Bronze Metallic Gem Pumpkin is similar to the white pumpkin, but use the gold gems from the Small Black, Gold & Silver Faceted Gems and the Large Black, Gold & Silver Faceted Gems. For this pumpkin, I wanted more of a random gem placement. Select 4 different sizes of round gems and randomly glue them on with a glue gun. Start by randomly gluing your largest size gems in place. Next, fill in some more of the pumpkin with the next smaller size. Continue this process until you have your desired amount of gems.
Pro Tip: Use a pair of tweezers to help you place your gems so you don't burn yourself with the glue!
Now you have three Metallic Jeweled Pumpkins that you can style on your bookshelf, console table, front porch, dining table, etc. I typically style in sets of three, but you are also welcome to split these up and scatter them throughout your house too! No matter where you decide to put them, they will look amazing!
