These DIY glass storage jars are now my favorite storage containers for all of my favorite craft supplies in my studio! The painted jars keep my wooden beads or spoolsribbonbaker’s twine, pom poms and paint all in order! I think I need one more for my extensive washi tape collection. I painted the bottom portion of the jars in an ombre color scheme – starting with white, light blue, light turquoise and a bright turquoise.

Prep the glass jar by washing the outside with warm water and soap. Completely dry. Wipe the outside of the jar with rubbing alcohol and let dry. This allows the paint to adhere to glass jar. Tape off the section of the jar you want to paint. Make sure the tape is firmly pressed. You can use washi tape or painter’s tape for this.

foam pouncer brush works best when painting on glass. I recommend two coats. Pounce one coat and let dry. Add another coat of paint.

Prepare the space between the tape and the paint by “scoring” it with an x-acto knife. Then gently pull the tape from the jar. You can also apply a thin layer of clear varnish.
