I love fall weddings, the air is so crisp and fresh, the colors deep and rich. I am also in love with the idea of keeping the bride and groom toasty warm and glamorous, all at the same time. They will love these DIY Mr. and Mrs. Chair Backers in fur and copper that I created for my Burgundy, Blush & Fur Fall Wedding. With a piece of lush ivory fur, fall florals, and a few copper supplies I transformed a set of Mr. and Mrs. Gold Calligraphy Chair Signs into a set of glam fur chair backers in a warm rich copper. You will have an elegant touch that matches this fall wedding palette perfectly.
Prepare the Mr. and Mrs. Gold Calligraphy Chair Signs. Begin by removing the white ribbon attached to the Mr. and Mrs. Gold Calligraphy Chair Signs and then spray paint the chair signs with a metallic finish copper or rose gold.
Once the spray paint has dried, add Glitter-It Glue to the now copper Mr. and Mrs. signs. Then shake copper glitter onto the glue. Once dry shake off the excess glitter into a tray. Tip: If there are any gaps in the glitter after this process repeat by adding additional glue and glitter.
Start with the Mr. sign. Loop a piece of copper ribbon through the hole at one end of the "M" and tie it neatly and tightly into a loop (use a length of ribbon to give the desired height on the seat back, approx 24 inches to allow for a knot) that will hang off the chair. Repeat (with the same length of ribbon) through the hole at the other end, i.e. the "R". Repeat this process with the Mrs. sign.
Next prepare the fur cover. Measure the width & height of the chair back. Then cut the faux fur fabric to the width of the chair back (approx. 15 inches) and to double the height of the chair (approx. 32 inches x 2). Lay it over the top chair bar, then push through one of the lower bars and pull back out at the bottom. This will keep it secure and in place.
Once the fur is in place, simply loop the ribbons around the top of the bride and groom's chairs (both sides).
Finally, prepare a floral accent for the seat backer. Taking your florals; a selection of greens, dahlias, and roses, wrap the stems in place with copper washi tape. Once wrapped, take a length of copper ribbon and tie this floral accent to the loop that holds the sign in place on the chair. Tip: Create a large bow that covers the majority of the washi tape.
You now have elegant, rustic chair backers perfect for your winter wedding!
