I love the balloon wall trend for weddings, talk about the ultimate jaw-dropping backdrop. Wow your wedding guests with this beautiful Ombre Balloon Heart Backdrop. This DIY backdrop would also make a striking party backdrop too! This giant balloon heart transitions through the color spectrum from red to pinks and white and is accented with matching florals.
Follow the steps below to create this stunning focal point for your reception, a backdrop for your dessert or gift table or as a fun photobooth.
Use bulletin board paper to create a heart template. Fold a large piece of bulletin board paper in half (Note: The heart will end up double the size you fold).
Tip: I wanted my heart to be wider than my reception table so I measured out the half fold to fit the width of the table.
Next, draw one half of the heart onto the paper with the center of the heart at the fold.
Next, cut out along the line of the half heart shape. When the paper is unfolded you will have a heart shape.
Attach the heart to the wall with removable adhesive strips.
The heart doubles as both a template and also a background color for any small gaps that may be visible once the balloons and flowers are attached.
Apply double-sided shurtape across the heart. Space the shurtape 4-5 inches apart over the entire heart. Lines can be horizontal or diagonal.
Next blow up red, hot pink, pink, and white balloons in multiple sizes - I used 11", 9" and 5" balloons. Do not blow up the balloons to full size. Partially blow them up so they have a round shape rather than an oval. Keep some balloons very small 2-3" in diameter.
Next remove the tape backing and start attaching the first layer of balloons onto the strips of double-sided tape. Alternate and mix up attaching larger and smaller sized balloons.
Continue until the entire heart is covered. Do not worry about any gaps, refer to the following step.
Next, using a low temperature glue gun, stick the smaller sized balloons into the gaps in the first layer of balloons. Overlap balloons to create depth.
Then start adding flowers into other gaps and adhere using the low temp glue gun. Ensure the color of the flower used matches the color of the balloons next to it to retain the flow of the ombre.
Continue adding balloons and flowers by color until complete.
