Pampas grass is trending and I'm totally in love with the free-flowing, feathery plant. It is so dreamy and effortlessly boho chic! Go big, beautiful and bold with a spectacular pampas grass chandelier at your wedding or bridal shower. Layered with grapevines, florals, cotton and metallic leaf accents, this is one hanging floral installation your guests will never forget. Here's how to get started.
First, spray paint 2 palm leaves rose gold or copper. Group a palm leaf with larger bare twigs or branches and pampas grass behind the leaf. Place smaller, feathery pampas and reeds in front of the leaf. Tie these together with Natural Dried Raffia Ribbon.
Tip: Use longer stems of pampas grass for a wider more dramatic installation.
Next, add a faux dahlia and several stems of cotton from a Cotton Plant Garland and tie these to the bouquet. Repeat and create a second bouquet.
Tip: Source pampas grass locally from your local flower market, florist or flower shop.
Join the two bouquets together. Tie the ends together using Raffia Ribbon to create one long, double-ended bouquet. Lay a Grapevine Wreath across the top of two chairs or across two benches. This allows you to attach the pampas grass bouquets to the wreath and work on the chandelier from all angles. Thread the double-ended bouquet through the hole in the wreath. One part of the long bouquet will reach out from the top of the wreath, the other will reach out from under the wreath. Attach to the wreath using raffia ribbon.
Add extra pieces of pampas grass over the top of the bouquet (reaching upwards) to give it more depth and fullness. Where the pampas bouquet is reaching from the bottom of the wreath, tie in additional dahlias and cotton with raffia ribbon for more texture.
Once you are happy with the chandelier, tie several strands of raffia around the wreath (4 to 5 evenly spaced lengths of raffia). Use the strands to then hang the chandelier. Hang from a ceiling hook or light fitting, whatever is available at the venue. You could also include removable hooks too. Adjust the length of raffia strands to achieve the desired tilt to the chandelier.
Once you have the chandelier hung, stand back and identify any gaps or places where you'd like additional fullness. Insert additional dahlia, cotton balls or smaller shoots of pampas grass to fill in any gaps. Finally, cut smaller strands of Raffia Ribbon and tie them under the flowers. These will hang down and give a whimsical, wild look to the chandelier.
