Have you ever seen those beautiful chalkboard signs with amazing hand lettering and detailed artwork and thought to yourself, “I wish I could do that!” I love chalkboard art, but I have terrible handwriting and can never quite get it right. That is until I discovered an easy way to create your own detailed chalkboard art for any occasion. I’m going to show you how I made DIY Patriotic Chalkboards for my Patriotic Mantle Display.
Paint the edges of the unfinished chalkboard frame white. Let the paint dry.
Cover the edges of the chalkboard frame with the patriotic washi tape.
Since the chalkboards are new you will need to season them. To season the chalkboard take a piece of white chalk and rub it all over the surface of the chalkboard. Once the surface is completely covered take a damp rag and wipe it off.
