I love creating fun party favor bags for guests to fill with goodies after a party! Although a standard bag would do, adding a few embellishments to uniquely tie into the party theme leaves your guests with a little bag that they can use to fill with trinkets long after the party ends!
Fill a glass bowl with warm water and add a few teaspoons of yellow dye from the Ultimate Tie Dye kit. Soak the white linen bags until you have achieved the desired color, and then set aside to dry. The longer you leave each bag in the dye bath, the darker the color will turn out. I only left mine in for a few seconds.
Cut a strip of green felt roughly 4" long by 1 ½" tall, and then snip small triangle pieces along one long end of the felt.
Once the bags have thoroughly dried, cut a piece of card stock, or other thick paper, to the size of the bag and slide inside. This will prevent the paint from bleeding through to the other side. In a diagonal manner, add strips of thin washi tape. You'll want to make sure to press the tape down firmly. First, lay your tape down going from the left to the right, and then repeat on top going from right to left. This will give you diamond shaped spaces to paint.
Carefully paint every other diamond in different colors. Be sure not to paint into the direction of the tape or the paint will seep under and end up in the unpainted sections. I lightly dabbed the paintbrush on the edges of the tape to unsure a straight edge.
Remove the washi tape once the paint has dried. Attach the green felt "leaves" to the top of the bag using hot glue. I used the bottom stitched line on the bag as my guide.
