From butterflies to handmade felt flowers, there's practically no limit to what you can use for decoration on a DIY wreath this season! We're experimenting with colorful polka dot pinwheels to create front door decor that's both eye-catching and fun. Read on for the simple 60-minute tutorial below!
Unroll a 5-6-foot length of White Burlap. Use sharp scissors to cut a strip about 4 in. thick from the roll of burlap.
Attach one end of the 4-in. thick trimmed burlap to the back of the Styrofoam Wreath using 2 – 3 Crystal Floral Pins. Just push the pins right through the burlap and into the wreath to secure the material to the wreath. Loop the burlap strip through the center and around the foam until you can no longer see the wreath underneath. Overlap the burlap with each wrap-around to completely cover the wreath form.
Pick your color palette from the pile of Bright Polka Dot Pinwheels that come in the shipping box. Use scissors to trim off most of the plastic wands that come pre-attached on the backs of the pinwheel heads. You’ll just need to leave a small 1/4-inch “stem” exposed.
Use a Glue Gun and Glue Sticks to bond the trimmed pinwheels to the front of your wreath form in whatever pattern or arrangement you choose. Push the exposed 1/4-inch wand stem that you trimmed in Step 3 down into the foam wreath form to help keep the pinwheels in place.
Complete this colorful craft by allowing the hot glue to dry for a full 30 minutes before handling, and then hang the wreath from a hook on your entryway door!
