You can’t help but smile when you see these DIY Sea Turtle Pom-Poms. They are the perfect addition to a Sea Turtle Birthday Party and are super simple to make. Sea turtles are one of my favorite animals, and they make an adorable party theme for a baby shower or birthday party. If you have a turtle lover in your life, these fun pom-poms are a must!

This first step is very important! If you plan on hanging your pom-poms once they are completed, you need to tie a loop of clear stretchy cording through the center hole BEFORE you begin making them. Leave a bunch of extra cording hanging off the loop. You can trim it later when you decide where you are going to hang it. If you create the pom-pom without this step, it will be complicated to hang them from the wall or ceiling.

Once your cording loop is tied through the center, begin making your pom-poms. Slowly peel each layer of tissue paper apart, trying not to rip it. It will start to take on a fluffed-up shape. Continue until all the layers are pulled-apart and fluff in different areas. Try to make it as round as possible.

Cut out a round turtle head from green construction paper. Either free-hand it, or find something around your house to trace (a vase, a large cup, a mini bucket). I traced my circle using a galvanized bucket.

Create construction paper eyes by cutting out circles by free-hand, or using circle punches. Affix the eyes to the turtle head with glue or double-sided tape.

Draw a turtle foot on a piece of green construction paper. Cut it out and then use the first foot to trace 3 more identical turtle feet. Cut out all the feet.

Glue on the turtle head and feet. Find the spot where you want each piece, and add a little glue directly to the tissue paper. Attach each piece and hold in place for 30 seconds as the glue sets. Let your finished sea turtles dry overnight if possible. Using the cording that was tied onto the pom-pom in step one, attach it to the wall or ceiling with tape.
