I am dying over this adorable DIY balloon cake topper idea! Using just a few simple supplies, including regular sized balloons and a black Sharpie, you can create an inexpensive cake topper that’s incredibly personal and super unique! Hand lettering is a lot easier than you think, trust me! A great lettering tip is to type out your saying first, in your favorite font and print it out, then simply copy it as best you can! Cheers to your Happily Ever After!
Assemble the clear balloon sticks and add a gold straw to each one. Yes, magically they perfectly fit inside the straws! Trim the excess balloon stick away.
Blow up the balloons, but only a little bit. These aren’t mini-balloons, they are regular 11″ sized. I found that if you press on the bottom as you fill the balloons with air, they tend to blow up more round and less “pin-head” looking… you’ll see!
Carefully handwrite your choice of sweet message on the balloons with a Sharpie.
Attach each balloon to a balloon stick.
Tie a little bow and adhere it to the balloon stick with a Glue Dot or two.
Optional. Spray paint the underside of the clear dessert stand to make it match your theme. Painting the underside means the paint color shows through but still remains food safe!
Carefully poke the straws into the top of your cake.
You can blow up the balloons safely three days before your event without them loosing air.
Your balloon adorned wedding cake fits right in with a mixed metal wedding theme.
