You’ll want to use a terracotta flowerpot that is larger than the mini flower pots for the base. The small terracotta pot we decided to spray paint with primer to make it easier to cover with the acrylic paint. Once the primer is dry, paint the saucer and small clay pot blue. The mini pots are ready to be painted and do not require a primer coat. Paint one pot pink, one yellow and one purple. Let each pot dry for a few hours.

I used a 3/16 dowel and 3/16 drill bit for the ceramic pots. Drill a small hole in the inner edge of each mini ceramic pot. Be careful not to apply too much pressure as the pots may crack or chip when drilling.

Using hot glue, glue the small terracotta pot onto the saucer. Place hot glue on the bottom of the pot and stick the dowel in the center of the hot glue. Hold in place until the glue cools. Fill the small pot with soil and a plant. Make sure to place the flowers or herbs to one side of the pot. The stacked pot will rest in the soil on the opposite side.

Fill each pot with a small plant and a little soil. I tried adding the plants after sliding each pot onto the dowel and it was a challenge! Slide the first mini pot and plant onto the dowel through the corner hole you drilled. Rest the pot on the edge of the small terracotta pot. You can add hot glue to the edge of the pot to secure it into place.

Repeat step 4 with the remaining two pots. Make sure that the terracotta pot you use is larger than the mini pots. You will need a good base to stabilize the stacked mini pots on top.

That’s it! Mini stacked flower pots for spring. I love how they turned out. Very quirky don’t you think?
