Nothing welcomes you into a home more than a colorful wreath! They are equally perfect for your front door or a simple way to bring color inside. There is nothing better than creating colorful DIY wreaths that are easy and inexpensive to make using everyday materials. Now that the weather is warming up, it is an ideal time to spend an afternoon on this fun DIY project. I will show you how to create your very own DIY Straw and Pencil Wreath!
The first thing to do is to cover up the interior of the wreath form. I used a nice textural ribbon and hot glue, then wrapped and secured it around the inside. Once the inside is covered, it is time to start placing your pencils around the top of the wreath form. I loved all of the fun patterns that these pencils had! Create swathes of color by hot gluing the pencils in the same order around the entire wreath.
After you have covered the entire top of the wreath with pencils, you can add in paper straws for more pattern! I cut my straws in half to add interest by using different heights. I ended up doing two layers of straws, as this also helps in covering up any gaps that the pencils may have left.
Now add some faux flowers! I removed three sets of leaves and flowers and secured them to the side of my wreath. I think it provides the wreath with a spring like focal point!
The final step for this wreath is adding your ribbon to hang!
