We created this bright and cheery DIY Sunshine Garland for a Sunshine Themed Baby Shower, but it could be used for any "You Are My Sunshine" themed celebration! The folded paper fans add fun dimension to the garland while the fluffy yarn pom-poms add movement and visual interest. Download and print the DIY Sunshine Garland Printables here. Cut the teal paper into three 2" x 8.5" strips per paper fan that you'd like to make. We made four for our garland. Accordion fold each strip, trying to keep the fold measurements as consistent as possible.
Use hot glue to connect all of the folded pieces together and create one long strip, then glue the ends together to create a circle.
Lay the circle flat so that the pattern on the paper is facing up. Squeeze the paper together to close the space in the middle of the circle then, on a protected surface, fill the center with hot glue. Hold together until the glue is secure enough to hold the circle in place. Use a pair of scissors to cut out a sunshine medallion printable and glue it into the center of the fan.
Use hot glue to attach pink, grey and white yarn pom-poms to strands of Pink Baker's Twine. I've found that the easiest way to do this is to separate the yarn a bit, apply glue, then use a toothpick to push the twine into the glue to avoid burning your fingers. Once the twine is attached, fluff the yarn back into place. Cut out the cloud shapes with scissors, then attach the pom-pom strings to the back of each cloud with tape.
Attach the sunshine fans and the shower clouds to Baker's Twine using hot glue, being sure to leave plenty of twine on each end for hanging the garland.
