Transforming a plain lantern into a beautiful tabletop decor piece has never been easier! Add sparkle and shine to your Arabian Nights themed party tablescape with this step-by-step DIY Tabletop Lantern tutorial. This is also the perfect addition to your mantel and home decor collection too! Simply customize the colors to match your motif.
Start by removing the glass from the Black Metal Hexagon Lantern. You can do this by simply lifting the tabs.
Next, apply a coat or two of spray paint in your desired color and let dry.
While the lantern is drying, mix a drop of food coloring with Mod Podge® and stir. Using a sponge brush, apply the Mod Podge to one side of each glass panels. Let dry.
Once the Mod Podge has dried, insert the glass panels back into the lantern. Make sure the side with the Mod Podge is facing outward.
Using a paint brush, apply Mod Podge to the metal portion of the lantern sporadically.
Next, place the Gold Foil Leaf Sheets on the Mod Podge areas. Using a dry brush, brush off the excess to reveal the gold leafing.
Proudly display your transformed lantern on your party table and enjoy!
