Turn every day into a celebration with this simple DIY tassel and garland cake topper. We will show you how to make a tassel from twine and a pennant from washi tape. We love making handmade tassels – such an easy way to add some color and fun!
Wrap baker's twine around 3 fingers (or more depending on desired length of tassel). Wrap at least 10-12 times.
Next, pull the wrapped twine off your fingers and tie an extra piece of twine on the top loop.
Next cut the bottom loop of the twine. This will make the bottom part of tassel. Trim the ends of tassel to be even.
Now wrap extra twine (same color or different) around the top portion, just below the top loop. Wrap and tie. You can add quick dry craft glue if needed.
Now is time to put the cake topper together. Tie twine to 2 bamboo sticks. Add a little quick dry craft glue if needed. Tie the tassels to the sticks. Next add some coordinating color washi tape to the twine by folding it on top of itself. Trim the edges.
