Use a Sponge Paintbrush and acrylic paint to dry brush paint a DIY Slat Sign. To achieve the dry brush look, lightly dip your paintbrush into the paint and lightly swipe the paintbrush over the wood surface without adding more paint to the brush. Repeat this process until there is no more paint on the brush. Having the wood show through the paint is the look you're going for here.

Now let's prep the "ornaments." To easily paint the wood beads, use a tiny drop of hot glue to lightly secure each of the Round Unfinished Wood Beads to a bamboo skewer.

While the paint is drying, it's the perfect time to make some tassels! Make an easy tassel by cutting a small piece of yarn and taping it to the outside edge of a small piece of cardboard with washi tape. Wrap a second length of yarn around the cardboard. Remove the tape and tie the small piece of yarn around the wrapped yarn. Cut the yarn off of the cardboard and tie a small piece of yarn around the entire top of the tassel. You will need to make 12 tassels that have been wrapped around a 5" piece of cardboard 40 times.

Now that all the paint is dry and the tassels are made, it's time to assemble the sign. Before you begin this step, be sure the sawtooth hangers on the back of the sign are at the top. (Trust me, you'll thank me later!) Use hot glue to adhere the yarn tassels to the DIY Slat Sign. We create our tree by gluing 5 tassels for the bottom row, then 4 tassels, 2 tassels and finally 1 tassel to top it all off.
