DIY your own modern centerpieces to give your reception tables an unconventional style. I used succulents and airplants as the greenery inside the terrarium. One benefit of making terrariums as your centerpieces is that they can be made way in advance. Keep them moist and in direct sunlight until your wedding day. Also double as favors for guests to take home!
Turn the terrarium on it’s side. Fill with a few inches of potting soil. Pack the soil down with your hand.
Pour a few tablespoons of activated charcoal over the soil. Mix it in with the soil. This is what will keep the PH balance of your terrarium correct so your plants thrive.
Add some moss to the terrarium. You can cover the soil completely or keep most of the moss in one spot. Pack it down tight on top of the soil.
Add some river rocks to the terrarium. Add in your plants. Here I nestled in some cut succulents into the soil. The cut succulents will eventually grow roots into the soil and become part of the terrarium. Airplants can be used too! These can simply sit on top of the moss. And if you don’t want real, faux succulents can be used too and look beautiful.
Style these geometric terrariums on a pretty wooden table with simple white napkins, crystal champagne glasses, and silver cutlery. I like to group the terrariums in pairs with accents of larger airplants to make a fuller centerpiece look. Think about your whole table when designing your wedding. Here I decorated a simple folded napkin with a touch of moss and a polished river rock. It’s an easy, inexpensive way to add that pretty, modern, aesthetic to your entire tablescape.
