Recreate the iconic twister that took Dorothy to the land of Oz by following the simple steps in this tutorial! This Wizard of Oz DIY Tornado is the perfect piece of decor for a themed party, classroom flip or a themed Trunk or Treat set-up.
Use duct tape to tape the end of a wire tomato cage together to form a cone. This tomato cage will form the shape of the tornado.
Tie the end of a roll of Silver Gossamer onto the top of the tomato cage.
Use hot glue to adhere the Silver Gossamer around the top of the tomato cage to hide the wire.
Wrap the gossamer around the entire tomato cage using a stapler to hold the gossamer in place.
Staple the end of a length of White Tulle at the top of the tornado. Wrap the tulle loosely around the entire tornado using a stapler to secure the gossamer in place.
Next, paint a DIY Small House with acrylic paint and a flat bristled paint brush. Allow time for the paint to dry and use floral wire to attach the painted house and a Farm Animal Figure to the tornado.
The only thing left to do is to hang your tornado. We used our DIY tornado to decorate a Wizard of Oz themed trunk and hung it using fishing line.
