As much as I love traditional decor for my home, I'm drawn to the modern simplicity of this triangle shelf turned Christmas tree. I love that the ornaments themselves are front and center and not hidden among the branches of a traditional tree. The minty color, along with the painted glass ornaments, offers up a vintage nod that perfectly blended with the decor of our Merry and Bright Cookie Exchange Party. Follow the steps below to create your own modern triangle tree to display your favorite ornaments!
Start by painting a DIY Unfinished Wood Triangle Shelf light green.
While the shelf is drying, remove the tops from DIY Clear Round Christmas Ornaments and paint the ornaments light blue, gold and light pink.
Take the tops of the ornaments to a well-ventilated area and paint them with gold spray paint.
Once the paint on the DIY Unfinished Wood Triangle Shelf has dried, dip the tip of a paintbrush in gold paint and lightly tap over the shelf to apply a light splattering effect.
Next, add a small cup hook to one of the inner corners of the shelf by firmly pressing and turning the hook until it is screwed as far into the wood as it will go.
Now that the ornaments have dried, carefully replace the tops. Next, cut strands of gold baker's twine to tie onto one pink, one blue and one gold ornament. Hold the three up at once and stagger the length so that each ornament hangs slightly overlapping the one below it. Tie the grouping of ornaments to the hook on the shelf.
Finally, display this modern tree on your dessert buffet during your Merry and Bright Cookie Exchange Party!
