Creating your own Valentine’s Day poppers is a fun way to give small gifts to kids. The excitement level of little trinkets and Valentine candy goes way up when they get to unwrap the packaging!

Step

Cut cardstock to 6.5 x 4″ piece and roll into a tube shape. Tape closed with washitape. To get a perfectly round shape, I wrapped the cardstock around my rolling pin, taped it closed, then slid off. If your rolling pin is large this may not work, but I found it to make rolling the tube a lot easier.

Cut tissuepaper to be wider than the tube. You’ll want to have 3 – 4″ on each side of the tube. Tape to the tube and roll. Secure the other end of tissue paper with tape.

Tie one end closed with ribbon. Leave the other end open for now.

Through the open end, fill the popper with candy, toys and confetti. Anything that can fit inside the tube will work! The heartbouncyball, miniheartslinky, Valentineminiyo-yos, and stretchableflyinghearts all fit easily inside the tube. Glitter is fun to add inside, but make a mess to clean up. Keep that in mind when deciding to use it or not.

Step
5

Tie the other end closed with ribbon once you have completed filling the popper.

Wrap a piece of scrapbook paper around the tube. Then attach with tape.

Gift with instructions to pull from both ends to open. The tissue paper will tear when tugged and the treats can be poured out. Kids will love them so much they’ll want to open more than just one!
