This gorgeous jewel tone tablescape is vibrant and classic. To add a softness to the color palette we mimicked the beautiful watercolor from the place cards from The BrightLine Studio, and created coasters to add function and a little interest to our tablescape.
Paint your coasters with two coats of your base color. We used white to make our watercolor effect really stand out.
Once the base coat is dry, place a small drop of your accent color on a paper plate with a drop of black to darken your color if needed. You will also need a small glass of water and a bristle type paint brush, not the foam kind.
Dip your brush into the water and begin to “pull” a small amount of paint. You want your paint to be very “watery.” Starting at the base of the coaster, work your way up. You want the bottom to be the darkest and a lightening effect as you move up the coaster. By adding water continually to your paintbrush this will happen. Continue this process for each of your coasters and your desired color scheme.
Once your watercolor has dried, give your coasters a protective finish with a clear coat sealer. You can then add felt squares to the bottom with adhesive spray as well to protect your table surface.
I really love how beautiful these turned out. The way the watercolor on the coaster mimics the beautiful place cards really tied the table together.
