Watercolors are all the rage right now, so it is a perfect time to add it to your next party decoration! We've come up with a way to create a beautiful watercolor backdrop that is easier to create than it looks. No matter how you do it, you can't go wrong with giant watercolor wall hangings. It's the perfect mix between sophistication and colorful fun! We also added some fun palm leaves to our decoration to add a little summer flair.
Cut your paper however big you need it to be. This project does get messy, so we recommend doing it either outside or on a surface that you can dispose of.
Crumple your paper as tight as you can without creating any rips or holes. You can easily un-crumple and re-crumple the paper multiple times to create even more wrinkles. The wrinkles soak up the color really well, adding more of a marbled look to the final project.
Un-crumple your paper and smooth it out as much as possible. This just helps when it comes to applying the paint. If you can’t get your paper very smooth, don’t worry too much about it.
Mix 1/4 tsp. of watercolor paint with approximately 2 Tbsp. of water. Mix until the paint is dissolved. Carefully pour the paint/water mixture over your paper in different areas. Use your rag to spread out the paint, or to soak up larger puddles. Repeat with all the different colors of paint you want for your backdrop.
Let your backdrop sit until completely dry. The paint will soak through the paper onto the ground beneath, so be sure to only paint on a surface that can be disposed of in case of staining.
