A growing trend for bridal shower activities, (and parties of all types!), is to host a craft workshop or crafting station as a party activity. For a kitchen themed bridal shower, a perfect way to entertain guests is to ask them to create DIY kitchen dishtowels for the bride to be. We’ve provided some perfect embellishment ideas and complete instructions for this fun, hands on activity that guests will love. The resulting masterpieces will become useful keepsakes that the newlyweds will cherish as they embark upon married life together.
On a table with seating for multiple crafters, set up a central spot for supplies and undecorated dishtowels. It’s very helpful to provide a sign with brief instructions on what is being created, and what to do.
Create a sample or two for your guests to use as a visual aid. Start by opening a dishtowel and lay it flat on your work surface. Select embellishments from your provided supplies, and decorate the towel as you’d like.
One fun method to try is using a pencil to lightly sketch words onto the towel, then stitch over the design with embroidery floss.
Try creating bows with brightly colored ribbons, or add buttons for a charming and whimsical design. Here, we stitched the words, “Happy Wife, Happy Life”, and added a cheery red ruffle.
Set up a cute clothesline with clothespins to display the finished dishtowels. It’s a great DIY decoration for photos, too!
A decorated box or basket for the bride to be is a fantastic way to present the finished crafts.
There’s nothing like getting together with friends and crafting up some fun, especially at a bridal shower, where the finished gifts will become a meaningful keepsake for the newlywed couple! Most importantly, remember to have fun, and celebrate everything!
