Mix your favorite color out of your acrylic paint set. I chose to go with lighter pastels, like pink, turquoise and blue – my daughter's favorite colors.
Brush on an even layer of paint using a foam brush. Use a smaller brush for the edges. If you'd like, you can tape it if you're not comfortable without. After first coat dries, apply second coat and let dry.
Measure your piece of 1/16 x 4 x 36 in. basla wood to the length needed to fit snuggly into your house.
Use a sharp pair of scissors to make the cut in your balsa wood.
Add a line of quick dry craft glue to each end of the balsa wood and slide into house to become a shelf. Let dry.
You can either hang these on the wall with the self-adhesive wall mounts or simply set them on top of a dresser or table top.
