Spring is a great time to refresh your home decor and incorporate some fun pops of color. What better way than with something you’ve made yourself? This simple painted floral wood slat sign can be customized with any saying you like, even a monogram. The colorful felt flowers make this DIY decor perfect for spring, but would be a cheerful addition to your kitchen or a nursery year round. The flowers come pre-cut as part of a craft kit, making embellishing the sign a cinch. No cutting required!
Paint the wood slat sign with a coat of white paint and a foam brush.
Measure the center of the sign and then trace out the words you would like to add using a letter stencil and a pencil. This helps you avoid any painting mistakes! I chose “Home Sweet Home” for my sign.
Use a foam brush and a small amount of craft paint to stencil on the letters.
Create a floral design using a variety of petals and leaves from the felt flower craft kit. I laid mine out on the sign first to get the look I wanted before gluing them down.
Attach the flowers to the sign with a dab of hot glue. Some of the foam pieces that come with the kit have an adhesive backing so you can just peel and stick!
You can use the bracket on the back of the wood sign to hang, or attach a pretty piece of rickrack or ribbon. I propped ours up on our living room mantel along with some flowers picked from our yard. You can use the leftover felt flowers from this project to make this pretty spring floral wreath!
