You can include wood in your decor in so many ways, from cake stands to place cards and even vases. These DIY wooden chalkboard table numbers make great outdoorsy decor for wedding reception tables. By using chalkboard paint, you can easily erase them after your wedding day and re-use them around the house!
Blend 1 tablespoon of unsanded grout and 1/2 cup of acrylic paint in a paper cup. To make paint that looks like atraditional chalkboard stick to black, but if you want to be a bit adventurous, mix a different color of paint with your unsanded grout. The paint will become very runny once the grout is mixed in and will look as if you’ve added water. Be careful not to spill as this can cause a huge mess!
Using a paintbrush apply your DIY chalkboard paint to the surface of a wood coaster. You can use any size brush, but avoid a sponge brush as it will soak up all the paint. Leave a bit of space around the rim so you can still see the wood.
Once your paint has dried, take a piece of white chalk and rub over the entire surface of your chalkboard table number. Next, gently rub the chalk off using a dry paper towel or rag. This process conditions your chalkboard so it is ready for use.
