It's time to have some Halloween fun with these SPOOKY paper bag puppet characters! Ella and Annie will walk you through step by step how to create a mummy, bat and witch Halloween puppet. They are quick and easy to make. Get creative and make your own Halloween paper bag puppet character. Don't forget to put on a show when you're finished!
What you need:
- Paper Bags
- Construction Paper
- Halloween Card Stock
- Glue Stick
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Googly Eyes
- Glitter Pom Pom
- Felt Sheets
- Puppet Template
Step 1:
The paper bags were a bit long so I trimmed off about 1 ½-2" from the bottom.
Mummy Puppet
Step 1:
Cut a white rectangle 9 ½ x 7" for the body using the white construction paper. Then cut another white rectangle 6 ¾ x 4 ½" for the face from the construction paper.
Step 2:
Using a glue stick, glue both the body and the face of the mummy on. Make sure the front of your bag is the part with the opening flap for the puppet mouth.
Step 3:
Cut 1-1 ½" strips of white felt for the mummy's wrap. I fit 6 strips 1-1 ½ x 7" on one bag. Hot glue the white felt strips over the white body construction paper in a criss-cross pattern making sure they overlap.
Step 4:
Cut out the ghost eyes from the template and trace onto black construction paper. Cut out and glue onto the mummy's face. Hot glue the googly eyes onto the black construction paper.
You have a MUMMY!
Note: You can also glue a white rectangle on the inside of the flap for the mouth, about 6 ¾ x 2 ¼ ".
Witch Puppet
Step 1:
Cut a rectangle 9 ½ x 7" for the witch's body from the Halloween card stock. Cut another rectangle 6 ¾ x 4 ½ " from the green construction paper for the face. Using a glue stick, glue both the body and the face of the witch on.
Step 2:
Cut out the witch hat and hair from the template. Trace the hat on black construction paper. Trace the hair on purple construction paper, twice. Cut all three pieces out.
Step 3:
Glue the hat onto the top of the witch's head. Glue the hair on the backside of the paper bag on both sides of the face.
Step 4:
Cut a small rectangle from the same paper as the witch's dress and glue to the hat. Glue on an additional mini black rectangle on top of the patterned paper.
Step 5:
Add a glitter pom pom to the tip of the witch's hat with hot glue.
Step 6:
Hot glue the googly eyes onto the witch's face right below the hat. Using a black marker, draw a nose and mouth. Add a few warts for fun!
Step 7:
With brown construction paper cut a small rectangle 2 ¼ x 3". Cut small slits on one end to resemble a broom. Cut another brown rectangle 5 ¼ x 1 ¼ " for the broomstick. Glue the broom stick to one end and the broom bristles to the opposite end.
It's a WITCH! CACKLE CACKLE...
Bat Puppet
Step 1:
Cut a rectangle 9 ½ x 7" for the bat's body from the black construction paper. Cut another rectangle 6 ¾ x 4 ½ " from the black construction paper for the face.
Step 2:
Using a glue stick, glue both the body and the face of the bat on.
Step 3:
Cut two small triangles for the bat's ears and glue to the top of the bag on the backside.
Step 4:
Cut out the wing template and trace twice on black construction paper. Cut out both wings and glue to the both sides of the body. Hot glue two googly eyes to the bat's face.
Step 5:
Cut two medium triangles from white felt for the bat's fangs and hot glue on the inside of the flap.
You now have a BAT!
