For a gathering or party involving young children, I think a craft project is always a good idea. Not only do the kids get to be creative and have fun, they get to take something home with them as a keepsake and make something of their very own to display.
Our Snow Day Brunch included three families full of small children and before we headed out to sled in the snow, we made our own snowmen indoors using these adorable Paper Plate Snowman Craft Kits.
It's a little thing, but I always like to organize crafts in baskets before the mess begins. Each child could grab one out of the basket and pick up their own bottle of White Craft Glue before heading to the table which saves you time and gives them some ownership over the project. The kits are so kid-friendly and come with clear instructions and everything you need, minus the glue. It makes organization so simple because there's no running around, making sure everyone has what they need, and also no overspending on large quantities of items you won't use again. Once each child has their kit, they can get right to work creating their Snowman.
Each one turned out so cute and unique. The noses ended up pointing all different directions, which made them all the more adorable.
The disposable tablecloths and cute centerpieces make cleanup a cinch. When you're done just roll it all up inside the tablecloth and throw it all away. And the tablecloth protected my wood table from glue.
It was just the right amount of time indoors before we were itching to bundle up and get outdoors. While the glue on the Snowmen Craft projects dried, we all hit the sledding hill for some fun outdoor activity-- playing in the real snow and getting in some fresh, crisp winter mountain air.
