Toddler Time! Paper Plate Easter Baskets

Are you in need of a fun DIY Easter idea for toddlers? Have them make a paper plate Easter basket that they can design themselves! Turn a simple white paper plate into a basket full of goodies. They can use their very own Easter basket for the annual Easter egg hunt or leave it out for the bunny himself to fill with Easter activities and treats. Either way they will enjoy the beautiful works of art they created!

Start by having your toddlers color the “bottom” of their white paper plate. You can also decorate with Easter or spring stickers and/or flower jewels!

Using a second paper plate, cut out the rim of the plate to use for the basket handle. You can color the handle or leave it white. Set aside.

TIP: I found that cutting the rim in half was the perfect length for the handle.

Turn over the colored paper plate so that the “top” side is facing up. Draw an “X” across the plate.

Using childrens’ scissors, have your child cut each line only 3/4 of the way to center. Please monitor your child while they’re using the scissors. Some children may be too young to handle the scissors.

If you will be using hot glue, please have a parent do this portion of the project. Overlap each quarter of the plate to the next and glue into place until you have a basket shape.

Add bright Easter eggs filled with delicious candy! To make it the ultimate toddler Easter basket, I added some peas and carrot gummies, an Easter egg sticker scene and the adorable plush Easter characters that each make a playful sound when squeezed.

Some of my favorite “toddler” approved products are the plush Easter characters that make cute animal sounds, the peas and carrot gummies, which Annie got a kick out of and the Easter sticker activity.
