This elegant plant terrarium place card is such a beautiful way to bring the beauty of nature into your wedding day decor. Working with neutral wedding colors, the miniature terra cotta pots are laced with soft green moss, and planted with sculptural air plants in a variety of shapes and colors. Add a little magic by placing pearls, rhinestones and seashells inside, and top it off with a clear domed cloche. These charming place cards double as lovely sustainable wedding favors for your guests.
Glue, a bit of moss around the outer rim of a miniature terra cotta pot using hot glue.
Using a small scoop, add about one quarter cup of potting soil to the terra cotta pot. It should be just below level with the top of the pot.
Select a small air plant to use in your arrangement. The plant should be around two inches long, or slightly shorter. Place the end of the air plant into a small seashell, and place it atop the soil. Air plants are a unique variety similar to succulent plants, which require very little water to grow. Air plants in particular cannot be planted in soil. A seashell or a shallow bed of sand are the perfect spots for these plant friends. Mist with water every two weeks and your air plant should thrive.
Add a few shiny, iridescent pearls to the pot, or some sparkling rhinestones. You could also use white feathers, glitter or glass beads. All of these special "ingredients" impart a sense of elegance and glamour to this unique place card project.
Carefully place the top of a domed favor container over the top of the delicate air plant. The moss you added earlier will support the width of the dome, which is slightly larger than the flower pot.
Add a small hand lettered nameplate to the front of each gold spiral place card holder. Stretch out the base a bit, to accommodate the miniature terra cotta pot.
Place the completed terrarium atop a small wood slice coaster, and add a few scattered pearls and rhinestones, if you like. For a touch of metallic shine, use Mod Podge to add touches of gold leaf to the wood slice coaster.
