This colorful fall corn craft is a simple activity that allows kids to get creative using a variety of craft supplies such as buttons and pom-poms to decorate corn made from foam sheets and our downloadable template. They can also dip bottle corks into acrylic paint and use the corks to stamp their corn with fall colors. We finished off our corn cobs with some raffia ribbon for some fun texture. Download the Free Printable Corn Template here and print out. Cut out the corn cob shape and trace it onto a foam sheet. You can fit five corn cobs onto a sheet of foam. I used a mix of yellow or orange colored foam.
Set out a variety of embellishments to decorate the fall corn cobs such as buttons,tinsel pom-poms, or fall gems in shades of red, orange, yellow and brown. I like to use a craft tray to corral all the supplies for kids' crafts.
Have the child decorate the corn cobs by gluing on the embellishments. I love using Aleene's® Quick Dry Tacky Glue® for this type of project.
You can also set out a paper plate with a small amount of acrylic paint in fall colors. Kids can dip bottle corks into the paint and use them to stamp the fall corn. Let dry.
Finish your fall corn by adding some corn silk made from raffia ribbon. Take 6 lengths of ribbon and cut in half. Group together one of the halves and tie a knot in the middle. Trim the raffia as needed to shorten it. Glue the knot to the base of the corncob. An adult can add the raffia to the corn with hot glue to help it adhere easier.
If you like, you can create a festive garland by gluing baker's twine to the back of the corn with hot glue.
